unable to install any programs/installation files explorer.exe disappears and re-appears

Hey guys, topic says it pretty much... every time i try to install any installation file(.exe), my windows seems to exit explorer.exe in task mananger and re-open it... ived also noticed im not able to open some programs such as VLC player etc,

Hi, it might not be malware - just explorer.exe problem. Check out this post - it explains how to fix explorer.exe errors pretty well.

thanks for the reply... i tried doing the first method though i could not find anything called iexplorer/explorer.exe in those destinations. i then tried to install that "shellexview" but as i have the problem, i cant install any .exe/installation files, damm!

anyone else have anything on this?

I would run a diagnostic on the hard drive, using the appropriate diagnostic tool.
