I have quite a large volume of files that I need to back up before formatting my C drive.
Can you suggest a reliable brand? I am looking for one in the 1 1/2 - 2 Terabyte range.

I have looked at two brands already, Western Digital and Seagate, but I'm not happy with the reviews.
The Seagate drive starts freezing after about six months of usage, and persons who have used the Western Digital complain of overheating.

Would you be able to suggest a reliable brand that would give me a few years of troublefree usage?

Thanks.

No drive is "reliable"...that's the nature of manufacturing by humans, IMO.

There's always the chance that something will go wrong, which is why manufacturers issue/extend warranties.

But...you can get a drive with an extended warranty, if that's what you are craving.
