I just ordered a gaming rig. I bought a 650watt power supply, and Im guessing my system will have to have at least 600watts to run.

I want to get a UPS for it because where I live, we have alot of thunderstorms and we often have power fluctuations/outages (I think the tech term is brownouts and blackouts if I recall?) Anyway, what Im not sure on is if I will need a 600watt UPS to fully protect my PC. Right now Im thinking of getting a 300watt, but Im not sure if it will be enough. All I really need it to do is keep my computer running long enough for me to shut it down or if I get a UPS that will shut it down automatically. Either way I need to know if 300watts will safely protect my 650watt system and if not how big of a UPS will I need. The reason Im cheaping out on a UPS is because I just bought a gaming rig ;] Those dont come cheap.

Im of course buying from newegg, so if you have suggestions feel free.

Thanks,
-Neil

Neither do replacement parts if the undersized UPS fails

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around
