Hi folks. I stole my daughters hard drive after my own calved.
This drive has recognized all of the hardware and software on
my machine. However. When shutting down, I never get the
"It is now safe to turn off your computer" all I get is the
"Windows is shutting down" screen. So I wait for a few minutes
to give the HDD time to park. Almost ever time I start up tho, it
runs scan disk. Is there some thing I can do to resolve this ?
Will it eventually kill this HDD if I do nothing ?

Hi this disk of your daughters you put in did it have xp on it only that is the way xp shuts down, the last time i saw it is now safe to turn off your computer was when i have repaired 95 hd. no doing a disk scan will not harm it but there must be something its not sure off, also about the systems disk, because motherboards must be different.
Now installed Microsoft Security Essencials on my Tower with Windows Home Premium 32bit and Toshiba Satellite Pro Laptop with Windows Home Premium 64bit

Hi Thedon.
No XP. This disk is an old Samsung SW0434A, 4 gig HDD. All it has ever had is 98.
Except for the serial number, it's the same HDD that failed on me a few weeks ago.
