I am a newbie to this forum. Thanks in advance for any assistance you could help me with. I bought the system in my sig about 17 months ago from AVAdirect. I have had this problem since the beginning. I will never by a system from them again, but I wont go into any more details about that. Anyway, my problem is that my display freezes up periodically with a "grainy" looking appearance. I have to power off and back on get out of it. Sometimes, I wake up see nothing at all on the display. Everything points to a display adapter problem. I worked with Chris Mundy at AVADirect to resolve the issue. Here is what we tried-
1.) Made sure that the latest drivers were installed(obviously). At this point I had Vista Ultimate 64, but later changed to XP pro. Updated drivers on either operating system made no difference.
2.) Used Riva Tuner to increase fan speed.
3.) Bios checks,
Ai Overclock Tuner [Manual]
CPU Ratio Setting [Auto]
FSB Frequency [400]
PCIE Frequency [Auto]
DRAM Frequency [DDR2-801Mhz]
DRAM Command Rate [2N]
DRAM Timing Control [Manual]
Timing Information 5-5-5-15-3-52-6-3-3
CAS #Latency [5 DRAM Clocks]
RAS# to CAS# Delay [5 DRAM Clocks]
RAS# Pre Time [5 DRAM Clocks]
RAS# Act Time [15 DRAM Clocks]
All the rest are set to [Auto]
4.) Changed the FSB frequency back to 333(no overclocking)
5.) Moved memory sticks around.
6.) Changed DRAM to AUTO.
7.) Tried upgrading the BIOS, then lost my overclocking settings(now I am at wits end!)
Plus, now I have a noisy fan on the Coolermaster power supply, so I will probably have to replace it.
Anyway, that is my story. I have considered buying a new video card but I cant be sure that will solve this.
PLEASE HELP ME!! I have struggled with this problem for months. Something else that might help, here is a
Windows error report. See attached.
Thanks again in advance.
