For some reason, my computer won't install a game if it has more than one disc. All single disc games install without problems, and the first disc of a multiple set - eg. Diablo II, Age Of Empires etc. - will install fine, but when I get the message to insert next disc and do so, the installation simply stops and I eventually get the running system not responding.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be causing this and how to rectify it?

Thanks for your time.

Do you have 2 CD Drives?
If yes,
Do you put the 2nd CD on a different drive?

No. Only the one CD Drive. I do have an external hard drive, though, if you might think that would make a difference.

well go on to microsoft Update
do that by going to internet explorer
and then the tools tab and click on windows update
it will open a new page
let it seach your computer for updates
see if theres any new installshield(can be windowsinstaller to) needed
and download any need fixes and stuff for the computer

if their is not updates for windows installer (installshield)
then download this and install it
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...b9-54d056d6f9f4

what service pack you got ?
eg. sp1 or sp2
