msoffice 2007 ctrl+shift+f what is the use of hidden check box?

i am using msoffice 2007.

i select some part of the content and press ctrl+shift+f in ms word .

under Effects i see a Hidden check box.

i click it . and the content vanishes.

please explain to me the following things,

1)what is its use
2)how different is it from just deleting the data.
