The boot.ini won't show up (if it is there) until you follow the instructions from DaChew  .

So boot.ini could (should) be there, but you just can't see it yet.

I'm still not quite sure exactly what happened here, there seems to be some a step or some information missing somewhere after jpat69 made the bootable CD and the system booted successfully. What happened after booting on the new CD to make the system suddenly boot?

I'll read it all again...

This is a fairly advanced problem and thankfully fairly rare, please read thru everything again. It's only my second go around with this problem, I got lost the first time.

No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try.

i backed up some files onto a usb and slowly transferred them to another computer and reformatted the hard drive and started from scratch so the boot.ini problem is no longer an issue

dachew i did do what u said but i could not find the file right in my c:drive but like i said before i did find a file in my windows file called boot.ini.backup which seems to be the renamed boot.ini file, though why it got into the windows\pss file,i dont know

but when i did it after i used the toshiba recovery disk i was able to see it on my c:drive so im not sure wat happened but anyways thank you everybody
