Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around

I'm sorry, you are correct. I read it too fast

The removal of viruses and malware might have damaged certain key files
I would suggest SFC.exe
Seeing as you do not have a retail CD, pay attention to the second post where usasma talks about the i386 folder:

I don't think i can resolve this problem without recovery disc, which is with my nephew,so if you wish you can close this topic, unless someone can come up with another way of solving this.

I would like to thank propagandapanda and yourself for the time and assistance you have given me,much appreciated.

Best regards pacman123

Hi keny111111,
Thanks for your reply, the laptop does have a partition but doesn't show anything on it,as i will be sending it back to him tomorrow i have printed the article in the link you have posted so if it asks for disc he can use that.

Once again thanks for your help,

Best regards pacman123
