I need help solving an issue with restoring backup files created using the backup utility included with Vista Home Premium x64. When I try to use the same utility to restore the files, I get an error message saying the disk is not accessible, please make sure it is active and connected to the PC.
Background check: I created the backup on a 1 TB internal hard drive formated as NTFS before creating the backup, and activated and initialized using the disk manager. I then installed Windows 7 RC on the drive that was backed up. About 2 hours later, I re-installed Vista and tried to restore the last backup. Some background on the PC might be useful too. I have an Asus P6T Deluxe mainboard and use the integrated Marvel 68XX controller for three (3) WD Raptor 300GB drives in RAID 5. This volume was created before the introduction of the 1 TB drive. The BIOS for the RAID controller describes the 1 TB drive as Non-RAID. If this is the problem, I suppose I can just reinstall everything, or give Windows 7 another shot.
I hope someone out there can help me finger this out.
