Btw I'm using a NETGEAR DGN2000 The OS on the laptop is Vista Premium The OS on the desktop is XP Pro Oh and also I know that there's programs out there that will do what I'm asking for, but I don't know of any free ones... I had Network Magic Pro 5.5 trial edition, and I liked it, but I don't have money to buy it... but if there's a way to transfer files without a program like Network Magic Pro 5.5, then I would also like to hear it out... Have you thought about using shared folders? I cant remember if you do anythign different for a XP to Vista folder os vice versa.
I cant remember the exact steps - im on windows 7 atm and i dont have my VM set up yet. You need to go to my network places and there is a wizard you can follow to set up sharing. -------------------- Lucy

To access a shared folder from a computer running Windows Vista, do the following:
1. Click Start, and then click Network. The Network window displays a list of computers in the workgroup of the computer. 2. Double-click the name of the computer containing the shared folder that you want to access. 3. Double-click the shared folder that you want to access. In Xp: 1. Open Windows Explorer (Windows key + E) 2. Click the + beside My Network Places 3. Click the + beside Entire Network 4. Click the + beside Microsoft Windows Network 5. Click the + beside the workgroup that the PCs are in There should be the XP and Vista machines listed. Any folders you have shared will show up under each computer. It will show the names of the PCs. -------------------- Hope this helps
