Flash Disinfector

Hi,

How often is it necessary to run Flash Disinfector? Is it necessary to run it on a new flash drive?

Flash Disinfector will create a hidden file named autorun.inf in each partition and every USB drive plugged in when you run it. This file will help protect your drives from future infection. As such, it's not a bad idea to run it on a new flash drive.

Also, this hidden file is also located on my computer? If so, I may have deleted an old one. Let's say I did....now what? :thumbsup:

Personally I would only run it if I had some signs of an infection.

If you run Flash Disinfector again it should replace the file.

Hi Budapest,

Sorry to bother you again but I am a bit confused. I mentioned earlier that I could not locate the autorun.inf file from an earlier run of the tool. Even after just running Flash Dis. for a couple of flash drives, I come up with no records for autorun.inf on my machine. However, when I search for the same on my other machine, where I ran Flash Dis. a couple of months ago, I am able to locate the autorun.inf file with a search. I do disable & enable the Windows autorun feature from time to time on the machine in question, if this matters, although I cannot see how it would.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

You may have to view hidden and system files to be able to see it.

In Explorer go Tools > Folder Options > View tab.

Check Show hidden files...
Uncheck Hide protected operating system files...
