Ever since I re-formatted the XP side of my computer (I use bootcamp to switch between Mac and PC), my audio has not been functioning. The drivers for the PC were installed correctly (I think), but my Sounds and Audio Device Properties says that there is "No audio device". No sound whatsoever has come from the XP side of my computer so far, but the sound on the Mac side of my computer works perfectly. Windows Troubleshooter didn't help any. The sound driver is SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC. Any suggestions?

Thanks for helping,
Allen

Did you try uninstalling the drivers...and then reinstalling the same ones or updated drivers?

I'll try that. The drivers are all updated, so I'm not sure if it'll help any, but I'll give it a shot anyway. Thanks for the quick response!

Regards,
Allen

My understanding of bootcamp on Mac OSX is that it is nothing more than a virtual machine that Windows XP runs inside of.

That being said, I'm wondering if there might be a problem more with BootCamp than Windows.

If you are looking in the Device Manager and there are no Exclamations next to any hardware, then you have correctly installed your drivers.

I think I would look on the Apple "BootCamp" support site located here: http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/

When looking there, I did notice that there are some updates available to Bootcamp running Windows XP, Windows Vista 32bit and Windows Vista 64bit.

Hopefully you can find a fix in one of these updates to take care of your "no sound" issue in Windows XP through Apple BootCamp.

Hope this helps,

New update. Turns out it's only my account that is having the sound problems. Other accounts are working fine, concluding that it's probably not bootcamp. Reinstalling drivers didn't work.

If it's only one user on a system with multiple users...it could be due to a corrupt user profile.

Thanks for the info, but, well, how do you fix it?

You might try the following, Copy Data from a Corrupted User Profile to a New Profile in Windows XP - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/811151

Fixed it. Apparently I created this account after I had installed the drivers, and I think that because of that it didn't install the drivers for this account. When I tried reinstalling before, I had done it on another account, which didn't help that much. Since I reinstalled drivers for this account, sound is good.

Thanks for helping,
Allen
