I have an odd problem that surfaced today - certain apps and processes are locking up while others appear to run ok. Outlook and Word (2003), various OS processes (system restore, console apps, THE TASKBAR(???)) are freezing, while things like Firefox appear to work fine.
Currently running in Safe Mode (with networking) and everything appears to work ok.
I had not installed any new drivers or apps immediately prior to this happening. Last restore point is 6/22 (Windows Update). Have not tried rolling back to this point yet though, as issue did not start until part way through the day today.
I use a a wireless connection to router (ie hardware firewall), use Avast, Vista Premium... not sure what other specifics you want that would be relevant.
Briefly looked over Hijackthis log and nothing stood out but I am not an expert in that area.
Will add any other info I can as I continue to troubleshoot.
