My budget for the new computer is: 800-1400

What are the primary uses for this computer (IE: mail, web browsing, programming, games, etc)? Gaming and web browsing

What software do you intend on using on the computer? Sc2 Diablo 3 Newer games (RTS, RPG)

Do you play games? If so, what type of games? Look above

Do you tend to have a lot of programs running at the same time, or do you close every program when you are done using it? WEb and game maybe a pdf or a word doc.

Do you store a lot of pictures or music on the computer? some drom the internet. Live music feed

Ps. I would like to build if possible

Assuming you don't need to purchase a monitor, keyboard, and mouse, $800 to $1400 can buy you a great PC. According to your profile, you're in Canada so the prices will be more.

Case: CHIEFTEC BRAVO BA-01B-B-B Black Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case - This is an inexpensive case but its large size will make it easy to upgrade in the future. $110

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-MA790XT-UD4P AM3 DDR3 AMD 790X ATX AMD Motherboard - This board supports the latest AMD processors with DDR3 support. It will also Crossfire two graphics cards if you so choose. $174

Graphics Card: XFX HD-489A-ZDFC Radeon HD 4890 1GB 256-bit DDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card - This is ATI's fastest single GPU solution and can handle most games thrown at it very well. $218

Power Supply: CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W - Corsair makes excellent power supplies and this one puts out enough power to meet your needs now and in the future. $119 (Before $10 mail-in rebate)

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 945 Deneb 3.0GHz - This is one of AMD's newest processors. I would suggest the 955 but it costs more and isn't supported by the motherboard unless the BIOS is updated. This processor, however, should do nicely. $272

RAM: G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 - The motherboard takes DDR3 and Gigabyte suggests this model of RAM. Your budget allows for two of these kits, but most users don't need more than 4GB anyway. If you wish, you can purchase a second kit to futureproof yourself. $71 per kit

Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB - Hard drives are not that expensive. This is one of the highest capacity drives you can get. $114

Optical Drive: SAMSUNG 22X DVD Burner Black SATA Model SH-S223F - You need an optical drive to read discs, this one can read and write to most disc-based media. $29

Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit - You need a 64-bit operating system to use 4GB or more of RAM. This is the one item the Canadian Newegg did not sell, so I went to TigerDirect's Canadian site. Alternatively, if you don't want Vista and are willing to wait for Windows 7's to be released, you can download and install the Windows 7 RC here. It is very stable and will work fine in most situations, just remember you have to purchase a copy of Windows 7 or Vista by March. $145

Total Price: $1,258 (Includes Vista and a single RAM kit)
