BleepingComputer.com: cmd.exe shuts down my computer

Hi,


1. My computer shuts down when I run cmd.exe and I can't unhide folders
2. I think some basic files are missing eg. calc.exe.

I'm on WinXP SP3 I have the free version of AVG 8.5.339. I use Opera. But my first experience of a forum post.

JBLCF_Scandal.exe was the odd ball in Taskmanager. Searched on it. Could'nt see it (even via changes in the registry) so could'nt delete it. Search in the registry for it revealed it but could'nt make the deletion stick. I (luckily) accidently deleted userinit.exe ... damn could'nt log in after that. More searches ... in microft site (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B307545), I used my WinXP CD to follow (most) of the instructions, replaced a few config files. Success!! cmd.exe works normally, Folder view shows hidden folders and unhides extensions (these changes stick unlike earlier). Searched the computer for JBLCF_Scandal.exe even amongst hidden/system folders, found the fellow in a prefetch folder. Deleted it (I hope I am clean now). Managed to install dds got a log file, but since the internet connection is not working I can't post it yet ... soon will (I really have to go to work). We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:

• Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • DDS.scr
    
  • DDS.pif
  
  
• Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  
• A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  
• Notepad will open with the results.
  
• Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  
• Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.

Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.
