BleepingComputer.com: Moniter says No signal while CPU is running

Hi everyone at bleepingcomputer.com

Please help me...

for the past few days whenever i switch my computer on the Moniter LED which is blue(when working fine) turns orange while the CPU keeps on running...and it shows no signal.....

i tried almost everything...

i took out the ram sticks and cleaned them with a soft brush and blew away the dust on the ram slots and replaced the ram but still no luck.....even if i take out both the ram sticks it still show that annoying orange LED and nothing on the screen...so i gusess the problem is not with the Ram..

i also kept the monitor in the sun for some time thinkling it might have some moisture buildup but no luck....

cleaned my graphics card....and replaced the DVI cable to thge monitor to thge older SUB cable(my graphics card came with both) to see if anything was wrong with my cable but no luck.....

however i only cleaned with a soft brush....some say u can use alcohol or what....plz if u have any suggestions tell me....

my configuration.........

CPU: core 2 duo 2.66 ghz
motherboard: XFX 650i
dvd writer: 18x asus sata
hard disk: 250 gb seagate
ram: ddr2 i gb (pc 667) kingston
monitor: ASUS 19''
graphics card: XFX pci exp Geforce 8600 gt 512

also one thing...many times the computer on bootup said...

Warning! Now the CPU is in safe mode..plz reset CPU frequency in the BIOS
press F1 to continue, DEL to enter setup...

but i have not overclocked the CPU....so could it be that the monitor doesnt get any signal beacuse the CPU is turned off...

so does anyone now how to reset the CPU...or motherboard......


These are just the things i know....

any help would be much apprecaited........

If all the connections are Ok I would be looking at the video card.

does that mean my graphics card could be faulty???

i mean do the symptoms indicate that the graphics card is not working properly.................



i think to test the CPU i will try to check it at a freinds place to see if the problem is reproduced and then take it to the dealer

Also has anyone seen the warning message i mentioned in their systems????

That warning should only appear if you have overclocked the system (changed FSB clock in the BIOS) and it has become unstable...or your CMOS battery needs to be replaced (IMO).

I'd try replacing the CMOS battery and then resetting the system clock/date in the BIOS. Changing the battery should set the BIOS to the defaults it originally had.

as far i have understood u said to take out the battery and replace it...

so unfortunately i have done that too and still it didnt work....

so i guess i will test it at a friend...i will try searching on the xfx website to see if my motherboard has a rest switch...

IMO borrow a graphics card don't screw around with the CPU, I think you may be looking for more trouble.

point taken...

my graphics card was faulty and will be replaced in around 12 days(so says the dealer...)

problem is my motherboard was a "hi end" card with no integrated graphics and so i was wondering if there are any simple VGA cards that i could use in the meantime...

so guys can enlighten me on the subject...please tell me

If you can find a computer discount house near by they should have an inexpensive AGP card, not a bad idea to have a spare. I have found most will work just fine with out drivers with windows.

Another thought watch to see if you get that message again, if you do shut it down! I have seen a power supply being slightly over voltage act like this, you may not be out of the woods just yet.

thanks a lot...

i bought a PCI VGA card with 8 MB onboard memory...there were no AGP based cards available...

thankfully it works well and alleast i can work on my computer till i get the replacement.........

i will get my power supply checked if i get that warning message again
