Kernel fault check...is a Windows proces. The key information item would be knowing what "new startup program" had been added, IMO.

More info at http://www.processlibrary.com/directory/fi...rnelfaultcheck/

You probably ought to read the instructions for using CyberDefender, it's the program that gave you alert.

Various security programs provide this or a similar feature (including Windows Defender) and some firewalls installed on systems.

Bear in mind that "startup" can refer to an installed program or simply one which has placed a shortcut on your boot menu.

New programs on the Start menu can be easily identified by visual inspection, while you can use a utility like AutoRuns for Windows - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb963902.aspx to monitor, disable, remove unwanted startup items appearing on the Logon tab of Autoruns.

IMO means "in my opinion".
