Hi!
Please follow the instructions I posted earlier, only this time, see if "Enable Fast User switching" is enabled. If not, please enable it and see if it fixes the problem.

Try this:
Go to start > Run.
Then type in the following:
control userpasswords2
Enable the box that says "Users must enter a username and password to use this computer"
Does that work?

Let's try another approach:
Please boot into safe mode. To do this, restart your computer and after hearing your computer beep once during startup (but before the Windows icon appears) press the F8 key repeatedly.
A menu will appear with several options. Use the arrow keys to navigate and select the option to run Windows in "Safe Mode".
Now, when Windows loads, you should be able to see the welcome screen. You'll see your account (which has admin status, I'm assuming, but correct me if I'm wrong) but also another account called Administrator. Log into that account. Follow my procedure regarding enabling the welcome screen for all the user accounts present in post #2.
Let me know if that fixes your problem.

Okay, so I have a few questions:
1. Did you install anything new recently (be it hardware or software)?
2. Are you the only user on the computer or are there other user accounts (apart from the administrator account that you just logged into during the safe mode process)?
