BleepingComputer.com: First build problems

I just finished my first build a few days ago and cant get the pc to boot up fully.It hangs up at the verifying dmi pool data screen.I have taken the battery out and reset 3 times,I have checked all connections many times.I just took the mb out to look at the stand offs and to replug the pcu and fan.It still hangs at the same spot.This has gone on for 3 days and it is driving me mad!!! I need some guidance to get this pc figured out.

You have either a video or memory issue.

What kind of G.Skill have you got ?

Try booting with just 1 stick

Try disconnecting the hard drive and the DVD burner. I would also try booting with one stick of ram at a time and see if you can get past "Verifying DMI Pool".

If by disconnecting the Hard drive and DVD burner it will boot, you know that your power supply is not enough to power what you want to run.

If you can get it to boot with only one stick of ram at a time I would gradually install another stick of memory until it stops booting. You know then that either one stick of ram is defective or your factory BIOS cannot understand your memory.

Gigabyte has had a track record of memory issues in the BIOS.

I unplugged the hd and dvd and booted with 1 stick of ram and got the error message disc boot failure insert system disc and hit enter.My ram is Gskill ddr2 800 sdram (pc2 6400)

OK. You got past the "Verifying DMI Pool" message with that setup. Now slowly add your ram in one stick at a time and see if it continues to boot.

If it does, then connect your hard drive then try again.

Okay added 2nd stick of ram and got message( update new data to dmi- update sucess----disk boot failure insert system disc.

Plugged hd in and rebooted and stuck at verifying dmi pool data again.

Then you have one of two problems. A defective motor in your hard drive or a power supply that says it's 350w but is more likely only 200 or 250 and does not have enough amperage to run your computer.

I would try another power supply. Most likely that is your problem.

I will rma the Hd and power supply for new ones .

My advice would be to try the hard drive in another computer first before the RMA process. It may be good and the power supply just doesn't have enough "guts' to get it going along with everything else in your new build.

The power supply is the "foundation" of your computer. Without enough power it just can't support your hardware.

Possibly getting a power supply with "more power" ( as Tim 'the tool man' Taylor" would say ) may be the solution to all your problems.
