BleepingComputer.com: Computer freezes at startup

Hi, wasn't sure where to put this so I decided to put it on here

Whenever I restart my PC it does its typical load, and after the windows XP screen, my desktop background loads, all my start-up programs start loading, and after ~5 seconds, my PC monitor freezes.

I've looked at my Windows Task Manager, and my CPU usage runs up to 100% when I know my PC typically runs at ~10%

The only way as of now I can do is end task teatimer.exe (the spybot exe) at start up, and my PC doesn't freeze.
My PC still runs ~50% usage, and I can't run spybot either (about a minute in, it'll give me a blue screen saying I don't have enough physical memory)

I run Windows XP Home

Can anyone help?

Teatimer is nonessential...I've used Spybot for eons and never enable it.

Well, I don't think that was the problem because I went to Msconfig and disabled it and now my PC freezes at the welcome screen (like 5 seconds after I hear the windows startup sound)

Also installed Windows Service Pack 3 before rebooting if that changes anything

Sorry...but Spybot is the only thing in your initial post...that provided anything like a clue as to what might be going on.

Have you checked Event Viewer for possible clues?

Sorry if I came off sounding rude/arrogant. Just frustrated with my PC

I re-partitioned my PC about ~3 weeks ago and got everything working fine
I was about to start browsing the internet until I realized whenever I scrolled down/up it would look like it refreshed the page and realized it was due to not installing drivers for my vid card

Fast forward to about a week ago, I let my friend use my PC, and he was only browsing (no sites for risk of malware or anything like that) and it suddenly froze. I restarted the PC and ever since then it gave me the problem of freezing at start up. I took off the cover of my case to see if I could spot anything wrong and it seemed to be fine. After a few boots it started normally so I figured it was some minute error

Yesterday I ran spybot and about 3 minutes in it gave me that blue screen saying I don't have enough physical memory and when I rebooted (and this is the first time I rebooted since a week ago because I keep my PC on at all times) the same problem of my screen freezing occurred.

I just restored my PC to an earlier time, and it seems to be working fine.
However, at the start of my PC it gave me a notice that the system had found a new hardware that's not been previously installed and it was my soundcard (which has obviously been installed already) and my USB mouse didn't work until I un/re-plugged it in.

I've taken a look @ my BIOS and I don't think its due to overheating because my system's running fairly cool

PC seems to be running fine now though. Are there other things I need to be wary about?

We all understand frustration, no problem .

Hmmm...I don't recommend using msconfig to handle startup items, it's not intended to be used as such.

A better alternative would be to use the Logon tab of AutoRuns for Windows - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb963902.aspx

My interpretation of the image you posted is that your network connection is not functioning properly. Most, if not all, of those drivers seem to relate to network capability. Does your connection seem to work properly?

Is your system currently up-to-date with critical updates for XP?

I've not seen an instance where so many drivers failed to load properly. It could be just one file and the others fail to load because they follow it, I don't know. That screen shot seems to list them in alphabetical order, which means nothing since I doubt that they load in alphabetical order.

You can do a search of your system for .dmp files, which may contain more useful info. You want to search all files, including hidden and system files, for *.dmp.

Do you often get messages about the amount of RAM installed? How much RAM is installed?

Have you done a series of thorough scans for malware?

Well after I restored, I don't have these problems with the drivers not loading.
I think what the problem was something blocking the usage of my RAM or something and taking up a ton of space, not allowing for anything to load at start-up

My network works fine, (I'm actually on my PC as we speak) and all my drivers load also

My PC should also be updated

What exactly are .dmp files?

And I have 2 gigs of RAM installed, and I did a scan with Trend Micro before I restored and found nothing suspicious

You may want to change your CMOS battery if it happens again.

The system acts very flaky when that battery needs to be replaced.
