Once again I must coem to the fellows at Bleeping OCmputer for yet another one of my computer problems. This one appears to do with my video card.
When I am running certain games (Age of Empires 3,The Sims 2,Anarchy Online, many others) the monitor seems to go to a black screen and become totally un-responisive.This happens quite regularly now. The green power icon on the bottom of the monitor turns orange, which means that there is no connection going to the monitor.Sound plays and all, jsut no visuals.HEre are my system specs:

AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3200+ ( I beleive I accidentally overclocked this model to 2.10 ghz in the BIOS)

ATI Radeon HD 3650 AGP (Catalyst Version: 9.4 Hotfix from Sapphire website)

1024 GB of DDR2 RAM

This is all the info I could gather.

Thankyou in advance for your help. =)

I update my video card and audio drivers very frequently. I have not updated my mobo drivers becasue the last time I updated them (using the Hyperion pack)
my computer got stuck in an infinite reboot loop.

I have left it at 2.10, but im not sure if i did over clock it.

I will check.
Thankyou for your reply.

Clean out your computer to make sure it's not overheating. Get around the heatsinks/fans especially.

I had a similar issue when I put new ram in my system. Turns out the ram was bad. Download this: http://www.memtest.org/download/2.11/memtest86+-2.11.iso.zip, and burn it as an iso image to a cd. If you need help doing this follow this guide: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/write-a-cd-dvd-image-or-iso/. You will then need to restart your computer with the cd in, and have your computer boot off of it. It should automatically begin scanning. Let it scan for a few hours, preferably overnight.

I ahve a feeling my RAM is bad also.
I forgot to mention I lately get BSOD's with memory errors every so often.SOmetime the errors are graphics card related.
I will try to run memtest, bu I've got no empty CD's.
I'll probably end up picking up some more RAM at my local computer store.
Might as well upgrade to 2 gigs while I'm at it.

Thanks for the help guys. =)

I used the memtest.eze and ran it overnight.
It got to 8500% coverage and no errors.
Guess that rules out RAM as my problem.
I also set my CPU clock back to 2 Ghz.
I'll try out my games a little later.

Bad news.
Just got FarCry through the mail ( the orginal not the second) and it crashes to desktop after the initial loading screen when starting a new campaign.
Thats on the vewry lowest settings. When I bump it up to medium, it just hangs at a black screen.
Haven't patched it up yet.
Any ideas?

reinstall your drivers then see if that helps
turn stuff off in msconfig that may be conflicting with your hardware
and then look in device manager and see if it reporting any errors

Gondovia, current drivers for your card are 9.5 not 9.4

I know that, but I'm running an AGP version of the card.
Those drivers do not recognize my card so I must get the hotfix versions provided by the Sapphire TEchnologies site.
Thanks for your help though.

No need to apologize. =)
My problems seem to continue. Was playing AfterWorld the other day and the computer locked up. Then the monitor went black with the message "No signal Analog"
I did some Googling about this problem and read that maybe if I reset my CMOS it will solve the problem or rearrarranging my RAM?

Try both and see. I don't really see what that would do, the other thing is check that your VC (Video Card) is snugand fully inserted.

Will do.
I rolled back to the 8.9 drivers.I'll see how they fair. The 9.6 Catalyst drivers are planned for next week (hopefully they'll include an AGp version).

EDIT: Wow FarCry actually works now. I can''t go above the very lowest settings, and even then it crashes often, but that's FarCry.
