George,

To clear old System Restore sets - Log in as Administrator, Open COMPUTER, Right click on C: Drive, Select PROPERTIES, Hit DISC CLEANUP and let it do its work. When the results come back Select the MORE OPTIONS tab at the top and then hit CLEAN under the System Restore and Shadow Copies heading. Then keep selecting Delete and OK until it has cleaned everything up. You should then Defragment your C: Drive.

As a general rule if you are using System Restore only clear out your old System Restore sets when you are sure you won't want to restore from a previous restore point. As you are trying a lot of options to resolve your problem your system will have probably created many System Restore sets in the background so it may be a good time to take this action anyway. Regards,

Paul

It appears that you have three very large films on the system, if you can you should remove them from the system on to an external device to free up some space.
Regards,

Alan.

Alan,

I have removed the .avi files even though I do not think that they were causing the problem. They have been on my computer for around a year.

I tried to upload a screen shot but there are only 13.85 kb left and I can't get it down anywhere near that size.

George.

Can you transfer data to another system?

Alan.

Alan,

Yes I can easily transfer it but I have used my allocation in this thread and have only 13.85 kb left. Is there a way of clearing any of the attachments from this thread?

George.
