Ad-Aware SE plus Slowing down browser
#1

I recently downloaded Ad-Aware Plus SE (with Ad-Watch SE plus) and I noticed that my browser (Firefox ) is much slower, especially going to or back to my home page. I turned off Ad-Watch hoping that would speed it up, but that didn't seem to help. It isn't unbearably slow, but whereas my home page used to load in under a second it now takes about 7 seconds. Has anyone else downloaded this program or had similar problems? Any suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks,
Mary

Mary,
I'm wondering what the total number of processes are running on your system.
(You might take a look at those.)
With a 933mhz and 256mg system you might be "stretched a bit" with some of the new programs you've downloaded.
You also might look at the "BP" item on FireFox Pipelining. It has sped up my system by about 25% +/-.

I have the new AdAwareSE and run Mozilla 1.7.2; I have noticed no difference in browser speed. I do not launch it on start up, though, and only run it manually about once a month.

I downloaded the Ad-Aware SE Plus, which is a purchase item. That's why I'm wondering if I would be better off going back to the free version.
Another oddity is that the my Foxfire browser has been slowed down, but I ran the Mozilla browser and the speed on the full Mozilla doesn't seem to have been slowed down at all.

I am really not sure. I have not used the plus version and am not sure if there is something in there slowing things down.
I am going to assume it is the realtime protection found in the plus version that is doing it
