I am replacing the Rom drive on my Dell Optiplex GX280 with a new LG DVD burner & old Rom has the CSL plug[No1] in it & should I set the LG as Master[3]Slave[2] or CSL [No1] I feel it should be set as master , but i'm very much a noob

If it is the only drive on the cable it's attached to set it to Master.

You could also set it to cable select if you're iffy or intend to attach another later on and don't want to mess with jumpers.

Cheers Ozi

This did not fix my problem . I even tried the old rom drive & it to is having problems reading . My problem as well as not reading the drives PC tends to freeze up at times & when I bring up Task Mgr nothing appears to drawing memory . Some times when I try to connect to the Internet it can take up to 30 to 60 seconds to load & in control panel , when I click on the add & remove button ,it to can take up to 60 sec's to load the A&Remove page . Could this problem be H/ware related ?
Pc is a Dell Optiplex [small desktop]GX 280 2.8 Ghz 2Gb[2x1] DDR2 ram, Radon 300X video card ,80gb h/d .
