Up to you, I'm gonna wait for it to be offered through Automatic Updates (will be a much smaller download than the standalone that's now availible).

Very useful info in the links below:

Hi All,
Windows Update is already offering me SP2, but it says that the download size is 337.9 to 343.9 MB
It seems to be the same size as the standalone version. Shouldn't the one through WU be a lot smaller?

I think SP1 was about 75MB through Windows Update.

It's been offered to me through automatic updates; I'm downloading it right now. However, update said that it's 567.3 MB total..O_O Oh well..at least it's almost done.

Just got the same size through WU, seems quite large, gonna wait for more info before I install.

Guessing you're Vista 64bit?

SP2 for 64bit is roughly around that size.

Hello Forum,
I have Vista sp2 sitting on my windows update and it is 563.3mb (I'm Vista sp1 64. ) I'm waiting a few days to install it. Guess I will see how it goes by reading the forums

Yes, I am 64bit. I guess that explains why it was so huge. Anyway, it installed fine and everything seems to be a bit faster as well.

Showed up in my autoupdate on my desktop, but not my laptop, which I thought was a little weird.

I notice no difference with it.

I assume updates which were previously downloaded are included in the Service Pack. What happens to those---are they uninstalled, overwritten, or do they take up additional space?

Hello,

I just got sp2 installed. I had 209gb before the install and I'm now at 246gb. Takes 50 min on roadrunner. Huge! Don't know if they are overwritten or not. I see no speed increase but it's more stable.

That's a good question, actually. I'm looking into it right now because I'm curious myself. I thought I had read something about it yesterday, but I can't seem to find it again.

Overall speed has increased maybe 50%. Worth the download.

Really? CPU or Memory? Or both?

Mine sure hasn't improved -- or changed at all for that matter. I monitor my CPU and Memory usage constantly, and I'm quite certain mine's the same. : /
