Hey guys:

I ran combofix and got this error right after the log window:

Could Not Find C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\Combo-Fix.sys

I don't know if the program is finished running or not because that screen just sits there.

I'm not sure if I should close the window or not?

Thanks

This is why we have warnings posted and recommend that you do not run it on your own.
I will see if I can find an answer for you

I ran the software before I ever visited this site. It seemed harmless enough, but hey, what do I know. When I hit the "X" to close the window the button goes in but the program doesn't close. I can't seem to close it even with task manager.

May I ask where you downloaded it from?
See if you can shut down the computer. If you can do that, then uninstall it
  • Click on your Start Menu, then Run....
  • Now type combofix /u in the runbox and click OK.
Notice the space between the "x" and "/".

  • When shown the disclaimer, Select "2"
This will remove files/folders assoicated with combofix and uninstall it.

I downloaded it from www.combofix.org. I did shutdown and uninstall it. I would still like to use the program though. Is there a tutorial of some sort?

Combofix.org is a sham site. The author of Combofix has nothing to do with that site
We do have a tutorial for Combofix:

Please understand that you are doing this at your own risk and you will not always receive help when you need it
