Microsoft posted to their blog yesterday that as of today, more than 12,000 movies and TV episodes from Netflix are now available within Windows Media Center.

The Windows blog states:

"Using the two together is easy and convenient. In Windows Media Center, a new Netflix tile will appear under “TV + Movies”. To stream movies and TV shows from Netflix, just click on the new Netflix tile and login with your Netflix account.

You will be able to search the entire Netflix library right from Windows Media Center, and manage both your Instant and DVD Queues. Windows Media Center will also take advantage of Netflix’s “recommended” categories."

Sounds like a real win for Netflix users who have a media center PC. If you plan on trying this out, please let us know how it is.

Sounds like great news.. Well maybe not, I tried and cant find the Netflix button when I realized that I am not using Windows Media Center - I am using the latest version of Windows Media Player.

Is Netlfix only available on Windows Media Center? (Which conveniently only comes with Vista) I can't find anywhere on Microsofts Sites where an XP User can Download Windows Media Center? Not even for purchase...??

I believe it was part of Windows XP Media Center Edition, ChrisMN.

Netflix is great quality on my system. And fairly quick loading up, once movies are on they stream smoothly untill their over, no choppiness - nothin'

Wonder how good it is on Windows Media Centre

Hi JohnWho -

So since I don't have XP Media Edition am I unable to obtain Windows Media Center unless I upgrade via Vista, or possibly Windows 7?

Thanks

Unless someone else knows a "trick", I believe that is correct.

Oh, maybe you could upgrade to Win XP MCE if you can find it.
