All system services have been disabled on my desktop. This means I can't get on the internet or do system restore or anything else like that. I seem to have no option available to turn them back on, what should I do?

If the system boots...do a repair install of XP...after doing several scans for malware on the system. I am aware that you state that you cannot attain Internet access.

If the system doesn't boot...do a clean install.

Although your post seems to say that all services are disabled...that cannot be true if you are able to boot into the system. Have you actually taken a look at your services?

Please try a couple of these free online scanners to see if anything has slipped by your protection:
(Be advised that some of these scanners will pickup things in "quarantine" from other anti-virus programs - so review the results carefully)

If you find that you're infected (or the scan doesn't complete or closes unexpectedly), post in the Am I Infected forum located here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/forum103.html

An alternative...remove the hard drive and attach it to a well-protected system and run the malware scans from that system.
