Thank you for your kind repsonse, I was not aware of the regulation you stated, I apologise if I have flouted any rules pertaining to this forum it was not my intention to decieve, I hope this does not ban me from the site................I guess I will have to send receipts for the laptop to acer and ask them to help

You might be able to call them and maybe fax the receipt and get a set of recovery CD's relatively inexpensively
Just be sure to have the model and serial number plus any othe number on the bottom of the laptop, handy

If I were in your shoes I would take it back to tesco and let them sort it out, just because you bought it at a reduced price should not affect your statutory rights.
