Hello
My partner works for a big supermarket chain, Tesco, and a few months ago a laptop was returned to tesco by a customer who wanted a refund, tesco then offered the laptop for sale to staff at a heavily discounted price, my partner bought the laptop, it is working fine but I found out that I cannot make any adjustments on the laptop or install any antivirus in fact any software because the customer who purchased it originally, left their own administrator password on it and hing can be done to reset the system to factory default settings.
Under the data protection act tesco are not allowed to get this information from the previous owner or tell me who owned it.
We have receipts from tesco confirming the sale to my partner.
Please can you suggest how I get this laptop back to factory settings, or do I need to purchase a new vista installation cd.
Many thanks
Tony
