Hi,

i recently back up my computer docs in a 8GB Data Traveller pen drive. after i formatted my laptop, i tried accessing my files on the pen drive and i have been experienceing strange things with it:-
  • when i check the properties of the 8 pen drive it shows the capacity as 250 GB!!!
    • no matter which folder i open in the pen drive the contents of all the folders are same.
      • it would show some new folders at time and at others those folders are not there. a couple of my folders have vanished all together.
        • it has changes the folders from some 500mb to 4kb weird looking files.

      • all the file names have disappeared and there are strange characters for each file names
      • i tried defragmenting the disk and it gave me the follwoing error --- disk defrag cannot continue prescan because there is corruption in file: F:\FOUND.000

I hope someone from you can help me recover the data. its really important.

Edit: Moved topic from XP to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

Yeah i did... but its all the same.... folders appear like files that dont have an associating file for them for eg- the way MS excel file would look like if there was no MS office installed on the computer.
