Hello, this is my first post here. I've given up looking on my own.

I've recently realized that I need a Linux distro for some programs that I want to learn how to use. I decided to go with Ubuntu because of its apparent simplicity. This is where I have arrived at one problem that has produced for me two questions.

The Problem:

I opened Ubuntu in firefox and spent about 20minuts downloading. I tried to then burn the iso to a blank CD however, the program I'm trying to use, one that Ubuntu specifically recommends, InfraRecorder, cannot seem to find the blank CD.

So question one is

1.) How can I fix this?

and my other concern is

2.) What happened to the 700Mb of Ubuntu I downloaded? I know I didn't save it, I just opened it...so where did it go? I know this is kinda noobish question but I'm still trying to learn all the basics and I'd rather not have to download/open Ubuntu again.

I'd really appreciate some help!

Ah, you opened it instead of saving it? Well, when a browser downloads a file, it saves it in a temp file, so you could try searching for it. Sorry, I can't really remember the path file.
