Hi everyone,

I know there is a setting in "Organise -> Folder and search options" for "Open each folder in the same window". No matter what i set this to, it ALWAYS opens in a new window.

I have made sure that the reg key people have suggested in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell is

(Default) - (value not set)

But still no good, can't seem to figure this one out, and it is quite annoying.

I have tried toggling the setting, turning navigation panel on and off, restarting, but still no luck.

I think it all started recently after i downloaded some windows updates.

The updates i've installed recently are:

- Definitions for Windows Defender (KB915597, 3 different definitions)
- 2007 MS Office SP2
- IE8 for Windows Vista
- and a bunch of updates for Office.

yes i had looked at that, only noticed then though that it had a second page, i will try the suggestions on the second page tonight.

On removing the 'open' folder (after backing it up of course) my folders now open in the same window.

after backing it up!! this worked, but i then found i could open in a new window no matter what i changed, so i put those entries back into the registry, and now it all works fine! Just like it should have in the first place.

If i have it set to open in same window, wow, it does. If i have it set to open in new window, IT DOES!
Good find there... still wondering what caused the problem in the first place...
