Posted this in external hardware but someone replied saying it might be from Windows 7 since it happened around when I upgraded from build 7000 to build 7100 and to post it here.

Around ever since I upgraded from Windows 7 build 7000 to Windows 7 build 7100 a few days ago, my mouse is having problems with the buttons (well, I've only noticed it with the left clicking button so far) staying held down.

I can't drag much any more, it keeps acting as if I'm letting go of the mouse then clicking it again. In online shooting games, this is also a problem, since I'll shoot a gun and then it'll stop shooting and shoot again over and over instead of just continuously shooting. When I try to draw with a mouse (not that I'd want to,) the lines keep being dotted lines since my mouse won't act as if it's being held down for too long.

Any way to fix this? I looked at the mouse settings in both Windows control panel and the Set Point or whatever it's called settings that the wireless mouse has, but I haven't found anything to help yet. Some kind of program or something would be nice, too, but whatever helps the issue.

If it’s wireless, quite honestly this sounds like a connectivity/power issue more than a Windows 7 problem.

Cheers,

Do you have another computer you can try this on? What kind of mouse are we working with? Does the manufacture provide Windows 7 Specific drivers? Have you installed the Vista drivers in Compatibility mode?

I agree with RonS, try replacing your batteries.
Don't mind me, I'm just lurking.

I've tried replacing the batteries.

It stays on it looks like, it just always has little problems with dragging.

Uh, it's a Dell mouse. The computer's a Dell XPS 420 with built in bluetooth that connects to the mouse.

If it looks like the batteries are OK, I'd echo what Sneakycyber just said.

Came back after it's been bugging me a LOT recently.

I think it's the polling rate. It averages from 60 Hz to 80 Hz which is apparently low according to sites, which is apparently bad according to those same sites.

How can I increase the "polling rate" of my "Dell hid-compliant bluetooth mouse?"

a quick google shows it's not trivial to change the 'usb polling rate in windows 7'. apparently some gaming mice do that for you. there are hacked versions of the usb mouse driver out there if you google, but you have to override the digital driver signature safety net. I'm not going to recommend any of the sites since I don't know which are legit, but there's lot of info. hope that helps.

If I don't respond within 2 days, please feel free to PM me.

That guy has the same wireless mouse/keyboard as me and has the problem too ... I wish I could fix it T_T
