Random Freezes

Hey, my computer keeps on freezing randomly.
Generally i get an error message for avicap32.dll and avicap.dll which generally causes the windows open to become unresponsive. Naturally pressing ctrl alt delete, takes me to a black screen and another error message saying unable to open security options or something like that.
Other times, such as when i click on start and all that i get an error message for explorer.exe and of course then lose the desktop and taskbar. With a black screen can't help but turn it off.

I tried startup repair but it detects no problems.

Err i don't have a webcam for that computer.
I'll try and see if i get the error message again and see if i can copy it in full here. Problem is its quite finicky, sometimes i get several crashes in a row, others times it works for ages without a crash

Okay i think an update is needed here.
I managed to get a variety of stop messages for this computer, and after doing a bit of research on one, i updated my drivers for the graphics card.
Unfortunately now my computer refuses to start, it can load up to the 'welcome' screen where it hangs and gives me a bsod with 0x000000F4 error. And then on restart i get a disc read error.
Is my computer pretty much bleeped?

Though it says what the error is, it had nothing to do with how to fix it :s
Though from the sounds of it, it sounds like it can be anything

but i think its the hard drive or at least the connection between the hard drive and motherboard, it is very noisy and i recall another error message saying something about hardware problems...
