BleepingComputer.com: Loss of sound after changing graphics card

Hi

After having some problems getting my pc to boot we switched the graphics card with one from an older pc and the boot problem seems to be resolved. However I have noticed I don't seem to have had any sound since the swap (I don't use the sound that often so hadn't noticed!)

My speakers are built into the monitor and are switched on, and the master volume slides are all on.

Is this likely to be connected to the graphics card, or could I have just missed a setting somewhere?

Well, first of all you should check if you have any devices with problems in the device manager.

Also check in the control panel > sounds and audio devices if the system found an sound device.

Do you know what soundcard you have (brand)?

If you need more instructions on how to check the above, please provide me with your OS (XP, Vista, ...).

Oh, and dont forget to check if the audio-cable from monitor to PC audio input is connected as it should.

Thankyou for your help on this - turns out I had the sound cable in the wrong socket - how embarrassing! But at least it was easy to fix!
