Help
It started about two weeks ago. I had a message to install updates. I clicked to install. The install window stayed open for a long time. Finely it stated updates didn't install. Now I get Windows can't check for updates. When I go to my command prompt I get system error 5, access denide. When I try to down load updates i get error code 8007005. I feel it has to do with administration I'm the administor.

I tried a cople of thing, nothing worked. Windows tried to check of updates , then windows updates stoped. When I was working with MS they had me change Windows/ Software Distribution to SDold I
think it made it worse. I changed it back to Software Distribution. Nothing works.

Let's get out the heavy artillery, shall we? 
Make sure you are logged on as an administrator:
1) Download subinacl from this link
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en
and place it on your desktop.
Double-click on the msi file to install it. Select all the default options.
2) Copy the below text box (minus the quotes) into Notepad.
Select File, Save As. Under File type, select "All Files".
Name the file Reset_Permissions.cmd and save it to your desktop.
VERY IMPORTANT - Make a System Restore point now. Call it "Before fixing permissions"
If something goes wrong, you can go back...Make sure the restore point was created sucessfully.
4) Double click the file you created in Step 2. A command prompt window will open and text will scroll quickly across the screen. This will take some time to complete so you can let it do its thing and come back later (usually 10 to 20 minutes, but maybe longer). Don't worry if you see errors...you can disregard them.
When the script has finished, the command window should automatically close.
5) Reboot the computer.
6) Try Windows Update again. If it works, create a new System Restore point and call it "Windows update fixed".
