BleepingComputer.com: My computer is in peril HELP!!

OK here's the situation. I just recently had a backdoor virus so i reinstalled Windows XP Home Edition. But when I finished the display was out of whack. The color was down to 4 colors! and the resolution was was at it's lowest. Then my computer said something about how something was wrong with my display so let it fix it but it did nothing. So i decided to do it manually. but i couldn't change any of the settings, so I decided to turn it off and turn it back on again and when i did... disaster struck! When I got to the Windows XP logo the moniter went blank and I couldn't see what was wrong with it. Then i thought that i would need to go into safe mode and look at it. like all the words came up and everything then i waited and then the blue screen of death came up and i had to reset the computer. Thinking that it was the RAM i looked in it and took it out, cleaned it and put it back and when i did the moniter wouldn't even turn on. Then after that i used my laptop to look it up. Some people on the web said that the BIOS was corrupted and that I would need to take the CMOS battery out of the MB and put it back. But, I don't know itf i should do this, I mean what if something goes wrong. Please help me out!

YOu can go ahead and remove the CMOS battery the worst that will happen is you will have to reset the date in the BIOS. I suspect though that you have a bad video card and monitor.

By removing the CMOS battery you are setting the computer BIOS back to it's factory default settings
You should then, hopefully, get your screen back somewhat
You can then go to the computer manufacturer's support site and download the correct video driver for your machine

ok i did it, just one thing... it didn't work! man technology is a pain sometimes you know?! OK i guess i should have mentioned that it turns on for like 3 seconds then turns off for like 5 seconds then turns on again but the screen is still black. you cant hear the hard drive working at all. You just hear the fan. This is so annoying please tell me that there is another way to fix this.

When you reinstalled XP...did you reinstall the video drivers?

Did you do a clean install of XP...or attempt a repair install, hoping for the best?

yes i did everything that i was supposed to... when i found out that something was wrong with the drivers i tried to boot into safe mode but it wouldn't let me.I got the Blue Screen of Death. Then I took the RAM out then put it back in and that's where the heck started
