Well, here we go again. I was trying to do a repair installation of Vista, and managed to get through the installation part of the task with no problems. When the computer was trying to boot up the last time through the installation environment, the last few things I saw were these... "Windows is preparing your desktop" or something to that effect. Then it switched to "Shutting down..." and then "Logging off..." When it went to reboot, this is the error that I got:

Booting 'Windows Vista'

acpi

Vista Loader 2.1.2

Done!
fallback 1
find --set-root /bootmgr

Error 17: File not found
Booting 'Windows NT/2000/XP'

Fallback 2
find --set-root /ntldr

Error 17: File not found
Booting 'Enter Command Line'

Boot failed! Press any key to enter command line.

I have no idea what to do at this point. I've tried to boot from the CD and use the CD to repair the start up, but that did not work. It took me to an XP version of Acer's eRecovery, but apparently they want a system CD that I do not have. Any help that could be offered would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

When you first installed Vista, you should have used Killdisk and wiped out the recovery partition
Then install Vista

After some research on a different computer, I figured out that I had corrupted the BCD, and had to rebuild it from scratch. I got everything up and going again this morning about 9am. Too bad I wasn't charging for this, as that would have been about 9 hours of labor. Darn, I'm too nice of a guy. Thanks for the reply, though.
