I have already uninstalled Internet Explorer 8, but I am still baffled by the lack of IE 8 tutorials on the Net, or at least my ineptitude in finding them. However, I should not feel too bad, because the folks that I spoke with via Microsoft support had no clue either.

For example, browsing via IE 8 was a nightmare, because it prompted me for clarification on a whole lot of common actions.

One example: I was prompted every time I tried to close a page, by asking me if I wanted to close all of them or just one. I tried to find out how to disable such a prompt, but apparently the folks I spoke with had no clue what I was speaking of.

Second example: Everytime I tried to move a Yahoo email message to a folder, I received a prompt advising me of the action, and asking if I wanted to give temporary pemission.

I am surprised that they do not have a prompt asking if I am sure that I want to type each character that I am typing.

Hello ljpljpljp,

With regard to Example One (prompt to close all pages vs. just one page), I think you are referring to tabs. I think the option to control that prompting (on/off) is at Tools -> Internet Options -> General (tab) -> Settings (button in the "Tabs" section) -> "Warn me when closing multiple tabs" (checkbox). I'm not absolutely sure about this because I don't use tabs; I always right-click a link and select "Open in New Window", because for me it is much more powerful and flexible.

As for Example Two, what is the exact wording of the prompt? I would suspect that if there is an option to control the prompt, it would be at Tools -> Internet Options -> Security (tab) -> Custom level... (button in the "Security level for this zone" section for the Internet zone).
