Hi boopme,
Thank you for your reply. ^^ I have tried to remove the file with Unlocker before, but unfortunately it did not solve my problem. I tried again just now (hoping I'll get lucky this time around
) but still nothing.
I had restored the problematic folder back to its original location, right-clicked it, and selected Unlocker. I then get the message "No unlocking handles were found." But I was still given the options of action to perform. When I clicked delete, though the message "Success - The object was deleted" appears, the folder still remains where it was. I'm able to rename and move the folder. It's just "delete" that is wonky. I'm surprised I didn't even get the choice of deleting the folder on the next reboot.

Last try..cross yer fingers...
FILE ASSASSIN
OK, let's use MBAM's FileAssassin feature.
Open MBAM again.
FILE ASSASSIN
OK, let's use MBAM's FileAssassin feature.
Open MBAM again.
- Click the More Tools tab and then the Run Tool button
Now browse to the file(s) we want to remove using the drop down box next to Look in: at the top.
Locate the file(s), click Open.
You will be prompted with a message warning: This file will be permanently deleted. Are you sure you want to continue?. Click Yes.
If removal did not require a reboot, you will receive a message indicating the file was deleted successfully, however, I recommend you reboot anyway.

Caution: Be careful what you delete. FileAssassin is a powerful program, designed to move highly persistent files. Using it incorrectly could lead to disastrous problems with your operating system.

Hi again boopme,
Thank you for directing me to where the File Assassin feature of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware! However, after I navigated to the undeletable 0kb folder, I can't select the only folder inside it (the folder with the name "D3_B0_CA_D3_F2_D6_28OST_29W_ ......"). Is there a way for me to select the folder (and not a file)? Or can MBAM only delete files and not folders?
^ I think I wrote the above in a confusing way. ^^; Lemme reword it a bit and add some further observations I've noticed. (Too bad I can't edit the first post.
).
The folder with 0kb is named "Poop" (cause it stinks that I can't get rid of it XD). Within the Poop folder is the folder called "D3_B0_CA_D3_F2_D6_28OST_29W_ ......". I have a sneaking suspicion that the trouble is due to the "D3_B0_CA_D3_F2_D6_28OST_29W_ ......" folder. The Poop folder behaves like a normal folder I think (it can be moved and renamed. And when right-clicked upon, it gives normal options: "Open, Explore, Search..., Cut, Copy, Delete, Properties" ). However, the "D3_B0_CA_D3_F2_D6_28OST_29W_ ......" folder can neither be moved nor renamed, and when right-clicked on, it shows only "Open, Explore, Search..., Send to". Also, when I try to delete this wonky folder, nothing happens. That is, I select it, press delete on my keyboard, and it would still remain there, inside Poop. The Poop folder, on the other hand, can be sent to the recycle bin; it just couldn't be emptied from there.
I hope I've clarified things further for everyone. ^^
When I used MBAM's file assassin tool, I opened Poop, and then tried to select the "D3_B0_CA_D3_F2_D6_28OST_29W_ ......" folder, but I can't open/select it for assassination. So I was wondering if I could just assassinate/permanently delete Poop with MBAM?
Please and thank you!

Try KillBox.
http://killbox.net/downloads/KillBox.exe
It will delete the file when XP is restarted before it has a chance to load .

If it survives killbox.. Then it would be psiible with MABM ,but it would have to show up in a scan log first.
If it is still there then i recommend the best course of action is to post in the HJT forum..
Please follow this guide. Preparation Guide For Use Before Using Hijackthis. Then go here HijackThis Logs and Virus/Trojan/Spyware/Malware Removal ,click New Topic, give it a relevant Title and post that complete log.

Hi fairjoeblue,
Thank you for your suggestion! When I used the Standard File Kill option on the 0kb folder (the "Poop" folder), I recieved the message: "File Access - This file could not be deleted." I tried Deleting On Reboot and Replacing On Reboot but upon rebooting, I found the file still sitting there.
I also tried all three methods on the "D3_B0_CA_D3_F2_D6_28OST_29W_ ......" folder, but nothing happened. That is, when I browsed to the "D3_B0_CA_D3_F2_D6_28OST_29W_ ......" folder, click it, and press OK, the box beneath the Full Path Of File To Delete remains empty. It seems I can't even select that folder for deletion?

Hi boopme,
I was uncertain about posting in that section before because I didn't think it was an infection. But since you'd advice it, I think I will mosy on over there ^^. Thank you!

Hello,
Now that you have posted a log here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic232493.html you should NOT make further changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc) unless advised by a HJT Team member, nor should you continue to ask for help elsewhere. Doing so can result in system changes which may not show in the log you already posted. Further, any modifications you make on your own may cause confusion for the helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer.
From this point on the HJT Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean.
Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response because the HJT Team members are EXTREMELY busy working logs posted before yours. They are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possible. Once you have made your post and are waiting, please DO NOT make another reply until it has been responded to by a member of the HJT Team. Generally the staff checks the forum for postings that have 0 replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response there will be 1 reply. A team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another HJT Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond. Please be patient.
It may take a while to get a response but your log will be reviewed and answered as soon as possible
To avoid confusion, I am closing this topic. Good luck with your log.
