Hi! I'm new to the forums and need some help with my laptop. I am currently using Vista Home Premium SP 1.

The problem is that even when I am not running any programs, the task manager will show that explorer.exe has around 60% CPU usage. I can hear the hard drive whirring constantly and the computer is quite warm. I just scanned it for viruses and spyware today with Avast, Ad Aware, and SuperAntiSpyware. I'm really not sure what the problem is and I would really appreciate any help that is offered. Thank you in advance!

EDIT: I don't know if this will help, but I left the room and came back to the black "Windows Error Recovery" screen which said that windows did not shut down properly and listed startup options. However, I was just watching a video and never attempted to shut down the computer before I left.

It seems to have solved his problem, it should at least start you going in the right direction
