BleepingComputer.com: Windows XP Restore and Outlook Problem

I am asking all you for help here.

I go a nasty virus that took me three days to clean out.

Now I have Before the XP Splash Start up screen a menu that gives me a 3 second choice of booting up Windows Restore or Windows XP Pro. How do I get rid of this restore option and when I turn my computer on it just boots to XP like before?

Question 2 I can no longer use my Outlook express when I click on the short cut I get

Runtime Error!

Program: C\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the applications support team for more info


Can anyone here help me fix both these problems???

Click Start, click Run, type sysdm.cpl, and then click OK. On the Advanced tab, click Settings under Startup and Recovery. Under System Startup, click Edit. Copy what is displayed and post it into your reply.

that file c:\CMDCONS is not a file that i recognize

Delete this line:

C:\CMDCONS\BOOTSECT.DAT="Microsoft Windows Recovery Console" /cmdcons

Save the file. Then reboot and see what happens.
