My Computer / Tools / Folder Options / View /
in the Advanced Settings box, under Hidden Files and Folders,
check "Show hidden files and folders" / Apply / OK

As encouragement to your effort I'll add, Keep Re-booting... sometimes the system will
correct itself after a few. (my non-technical advice is based on having seen
many inconsistancies over a period of time through 7 installs)
Although the parallels are not exact, perhaps, the point of my "experimental" post (above link) is to offer a detailed look at what can happen with the OS & it's updates being installed and the user (me) not being a pro like some of the folks here are.
