Thank you, Yes I would appreciate the pics to help me out. Can't say what was wrong either but I was experiencing several problems and thats why I decided to blank the hard drive and start all over again. Nearly got it back to where I had it before except I'm not installing some items which I think could have caused the problems. Like when I downloaded a free trial of Panda Anti Virus, the computer came to almost a complete freeze up. Took about half an hour just to restart the computer. Everything seems fine right now so I am leaving well alone untill I know I have established a clear restore date so there is no need for all the work. One of the most confusing problems I was having was an error message every time I started up. Something to do with a missing module from Windows Downloaded Program Files. When I restored the system to an earlier date, I noticed that the recycle bin showed it to have something in it. When I opened it, nothing was there. Just out of curiousity I clicked 'empty recycle bin' and it asked me if I was sure I wanted to delete the 2 windows items. Thanks again Tony.

No idea what the windows items were, there was nothing to be seen in the recycle bin. My guess is they were hidden files but I have no idea how they got there. More importantly right now is that I have just experienced another problem occuring. Everything seemed to be working perfectly, but I just went to erase a CD. It got to 5sec remaining and it stayed at that. After some while, all else Failing, I pressed eject to remove the CD. However windows still appears to be using the wizard and will not allow it to be used. Going to see what happens when I shut down, though that will not be for awhile because of a download I'm in the middle of.

Wizard seems to have cleared itself and is working fine now. Crazy computer or what.

I can identify with the zzzzzzzz, 1up2down :flowers: The timeline of what I'm doing should back me up on that. See:

As encouragement to your effort I'll add, Keep Re-booting... sometimes the system will
correct itself after a few. (my non-technical advice is based on having seen
many inconsistancies over a period of time through 7 installs)

Although the parallels are not exact, perhaps, the point of my "experimental" post (above link) is to offer a detailed look at what can happen with the OS & it's updates being installed and the user (me) not being a pro like some of the folks here are. Hang in there !

Yep I know. The time over there is above each posting but my brains elsewhere at this time of the morning if I stay on the PC all night. Still what choice do I have when you lot have all the answers.

Reckon I ought to get a little sleep now. 2 hours at least. So I'll say good morning to the world outside and good night to the rest of you. bye for now.

Thanks very much Cowsgonemad. Thats a very handy link you gave me. But I am puzzled why it was that when I originally got Google to search for a translator, it did'nt come up with that one. Like I said, it is very handy because it translates a whole web page at a time. Will definitely give it a try very soon. Thought everyone had given up this topic as there had been no more postings on it for some while, so got to chatting to Phawgg by email instead. He's been quite helpful too, and as I said to him, I am extremely grateful to all you chaps who take the time out to help others like myself. Oh and before I get in deep trouble here, I will add that when I say chaps, I do mean females as well as males. Some of us older English, still use the old words like that. Thanks again, Tony.
