How to delete an operating system

I know that you can delete an operating system by going into add/remove program in safe mode, but I have a problem. I recently put Windows XP Professional SP 2 on my computer running XP Home SP 3. When in safe mode it says I am using SP 3 Home, but it also says I am running XP professional with the log in.
So, I was wandering if it is OK to delete SP 3.
