BleepingComputer.com: Flashing Monitor?

It just now started but my screen flashed a couple of times. I checked Task Manager and MSCONFIG and nothing odd was found. So far, nothing else has happened. Should I worry? Why would this happen?

There are a few reasons why your monitor would flash.

I hate to answer a question, with a question, but...
Have you installed anything that uses a different video mode lately?
Changed or updated your video drivers?
Did a search for a possible update on your drivers?
Have unusual power flickering from other things in your house?
Is your computer and monitor hooked up to a surge protector?
Is your monitor more then 4 years old?
Is there any kind of video artifacts floating on the screen?
When your monitor does come back, is everything else slower then usual, even for a short about of time?


Iniatially, I would think some kind of power problem, but there could be other reasons.

Me too but what were you doing when it happened?

Actually, I was just checking my messages here in My Control Panel. I haven't downloaded, added, removed, or altered anything.
It was just this one time and then it stopped. It's plugged in - as is all my pc equipment - to a surge protector.
It's not old, none of it is.
I guess I won't worry about it unless it happens again or something else happens that I find odd.

It is very possible that it is an isolated incident, but I would consider at least looking into getting another monitor. They have really come down in price lately, and having a spare may come in handy one day.

Yes but dont get one now. I would wait until it blew up...lol if it only happened once then........there should be no problems with your monitor
