Just today, everytime I try to watch a video with Windows Media Player, I get an error message that Media Player crashes and then another that says Windows Explorer crashes. Also, when I went into one of the folders of My Documents to try and rename an .avi file, Windows Explorer crashes. Any ideas why and what I can do about it? This just started yesterday, and I've used this machine for 2+ years without any problems.

This problem seems very odd but it is a an early indication of Malware in system or corrupt shell files.
Youcan try simple methods first being making sure pc is virus and spyware free.
Then going to microsoft update website to download the latest updates.
Then you could try system restore, go to accessories, system tools and system restore, pick a date and restore system to it.
Last options
click start then run type sfc /scannow
mind the space, insert system disk and wait for it to finish. This will check all system files and make sure they are accurate ie not corrupt or fake.
