I'm trying to fix a computer for a family member.

Apparently they tried to uninstall the trial of norton interent security and it bombed.
The computer will not get an IP address from DHCP hence it won't get on the intenet.
Numerous RUNDLL32.exe errors at boot up.

I'm pretty sure that norton was not completely removed as it's still listed in the installed program list.

The system is Vista Home Premium 32bit.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have looked at a few other threads and have downloaded most of the needed programs to a thumb drive.

Thanks!

Hi IkeInMass,

You could try a System Restore to revert back to before the uninstall.

Then run the Norton Removal Tool.

Then try connecting to the Internet again. If you still can't, try Vista's "Diagnose & Repair" the Internet connection.

I have restored to the earliest restore point on the machine with no luck.

The norton removal tool give the error that it has stopped working.

Diagnose and repair the network connection does not work either.

This laptop is a mess.

I just blew it up. I guess nobody else had a clue either. Thanks.
