So what kind of mouse do use or have?

I just got a Logitech MX1000 Laser mouse. It is awsome, I finally have a mouse that works on my white old small desk. :thumbsup:

I thought optical and laser were the same thing?
I have a optical/laser mouse made by microsoft. It was on sale for 4 bucks or something after rebate and I got it because I was sick of cleaning that ball!

I also have a fellowes optical/laser mini webmouse for my laptop.

LOL you should have included all of the above hehe. I have a Microsoft IntelliPoint optical trackball mouse. It's stationary too.

Optical is not a laser.

The MX1000 is the first laser mouse.

I had a picture around here in my room of how the sensors works in the mouse. Here is a quick drawing for until I find the drawing I'm looking for.

When I find the diagram that came with my mouse that showed this I'll scan it and upload it here. I just can't believe I can't find it, I had it last night. Anyhow, thats another big difference the optical has the sensor perpendicular to the surface, where as the laser doesn't.

I have an MX 1000 too.... totally rocks! So worth the $$!

I use a wireless-optical logitech mouse. I am extremely happy with it, except for 2 aspects:

1. Uses batteries like crazy. No idea why i have to change the batteries about once a month...

2. Slight delay. For some reason, sometimes i have to move the mouse a little to get it to respond, and it hardly ever has an immediate (like less than a millisecond reaction). This doesn't seem like a big deal, but it's cost me many frags/deaths in online fps's....

Heretic Monkey I would recomemend getting rechargable batteries. I bought 4 double AA Energizer batteries with a recharger for like 30$. It was the best investment I made. Now I don't have to go through so many with my digital camera and my old Cordless Optical Logitech mouse.

I've got some cheap blue optical mouse tha came with my case, keyboard, and speakers. It's got this really annoying blue light in the wheel which requires me to turn off my power strip at night, because my computer always sends power out the USB and ps2 ports. Even when it's off :thumbsup:

An optical mouse (rather cheap one, I'd assume) came with my newest system, which also has Windows XP and takes about five minutes to paint the icons on the desktop upon booting up. That's what I get for getting "bargains".

The mouse lasted about a week, rarely worked as it was, and I replaced it with a cheap Genius (trackball) one that is still working very well.

I have a Microsoft wireless optical mouse for my laptop. It has this cool antenna that can be stored in the base of the mouse and when the antenna is stored it turns off the red LED to save power. So mush better than using the touch pad that comes with laptops.
